Yuri Yoshida, Ph.D., completed his dissertation on the Abstract Expressionist artist Barnett Newman. In Japan, Yoshida has engaged in curatorial work at the Kawasaki City Museum, the National Museum of Modern Art, and Mori Art Museum. Yoshida has served as Scholar-in-Residence at the Barnett Newman Foundation (2014–15), John & Dominque de Menil fellow at the Menil Collection (2018–19), and William A. Camfield fellow in the area of American Painting and Sculpture at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (2019–20). Yoshida has also translated numerous English art-historical texts for Japanese books and exhibition catalogues. His essays appear in the Japanese journals Bijutsushi and NACT Review: Bulletin of the National Art Center, Tokyo.
