The Department of Art History offers Rice undergraduate students an opportunity to study abroad through our HART in the World program. Every other summer faculty members lead a group to visit one of the world's great cultural centers. Next year the HART in the World summer course will be held in Berlin and will be accompanied by a Spring semester seminar at Rice.
The program is open to current Rice University undergraduate students, regardless of major or field of study. The Department of Art History covers airfare, lodging, and site admissions.
The course this year will be led by Dr. Graham Bader, Professor of Art History, and Chloe Millhauser, Art History PhD Student.

HART in the World Exhibition
The HART in the World Travel Program also consists of a student-led exhibition to be completed in the Fall semester following the trip. Students who attended the trip are responsible for designing, printing, and setting up the exhibition with all supplies provided by the Department of Art History. The exhibition is located in the hallway of Herring Hall near the Department of Art History, Suite 103. There is also an opening reception where students are encouraged to invite family members, friends, and all others who may be interested in viewing pictures and hearing stories from their trip abroad. Students interested in applying to the program may visit Herring Hall to see the past exhibition for HART in the World: Uzbekistan. Students will also be responsible for taking down the past HITW exhibition.
