The Rice Global Paris (RGP) summer course “HART 374: The Visual Culture of the French Revolution” is currently underway led by Dr. Leo Costello, Associate Professor and Chair of Art History, with fourteen undergraduate Rice students in tow.
Not only did students in the course get to visit the Palace of Versailles, but they also hammered their way through a stone cutting workshop.
In this RGP course, students learn about the turbulent period of the French Revolution (1789-1794) and the social and political upheaval it brought marked a radical shift in world history. The class includes many visits to museums and sites around Paris and is open to all Rice undergraduates of any major. Art history courses are offered every summer in the RGP program and tuition assistance is available.
