2024-2025 William A. Camfield Undergraduate Fellow

As the recipient of the William A. Camfield Undergraduate Fellowship, Jessica will work as an intern in the coming academic year at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s Modern and Contemporary Art department on two special upcoming exhibition projects.

Double majoring in Art History and Architecture, Jessica describes why she applied for this fellowship:

β€œThe unique projects associated with the Camfield Fellowship, particularly the solo exhibition of a Global Contemporary artist with a focus on sculpture, resonate deeply with my newfound perspectives. The chance to participate in the final stages of a major exhibition and witness the culmination of efforts on a global scale is an opportunity I am eager to embrace. Often seeing architecture as massive sculptures, I deeply understand and value the unique strength of such 3-dimensional expressional forms to both reflect on themselves and their built environment while interacting with their viewers.

The internship's emphasis on an early 20th-century artist with a feminist perspective also aligns seamlessly with the discussions on underrepresented voices that were both a focal point in my seminar course and my exhibition experience.”
