Congratulations to rising junior, Jackie Huang, who has been awarded an internship at The Menil Collection next year! Jackie will work under the guidance of the Menil's internationally respected curatorial departments and assist in the development of exhibitions and conduct art historical research on the permanent collection.
Jackie shares her thoughts and goals for interning at The Menil:
"As an Art History major with an interest in Museum Studies, my foremost goal with pursuing curation is to further the diversity of stories and perspectives being presented to the public. Museums as institutions are responsible for deciding what to preserve in the cultural canon, ultimately granting curators the great responsibility of deciding which narratives they chose to represent. Being able to work with the extensive and diverse collection of works at the Menil is an amazing opportunity that I am looking forward to learning from. I hope to improve upon my research and curatorial skills with the guidance of the exceptional curatorial team. My past experience at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston has shaped an interest in photography that I will continue to foster with this new opportunity, focusing on research regarding the diverse collection at the Menil."
