Prof. Sophie Crawford-Brown brought a select group of HART students to The Menil Collection’s Conservation Department last week for a private tour led by Dr. Corina Rogge, Director of Conservation. The lucky students got a rare, behind-the-scenes look at how art objects are conserved and preserved in museums!
Dr. Crawford-Brown, who specializes in art and archaeology of Republican and Early Imperial Italy and leads the Program in Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations at Rice, will be teaching HART 216: Greek Art & Archaeology in the spring - spots still available so register now! If you’re looking for a course that steps outside of the traditional classroom settings, Dr. Crawford-Brown has contacts and networks with curators around town and often leads class trips to local art museums.
