Undergraduate HART major Eponine Zhou '21 is the first Rice student to ever be awarded the Deerfield Fellowship at Historic Deerfield Museum in Massachusetts.
Located in the scenic Connecticut River Valley of western Massachusetts, Historic Deerfield is the perfect place to explore New England and regional history, material culture and museum studies. This coming summer, Eponine will participate in a nine-week Summer Fellowship Program in American History and Material Culture at the museum. She will study their collections and conduct original research on objects in their collection, in addition to visiting museums and historic sites in New England and taking a road trip to museums in the Mid-Atlantic and Virginia. This prestigious and academically rigorous summer program will prepare Eponine well for graduate school in art history as she plans to apply to Ph.D. programs in art history during her senior year this fall.
