Ellie Mix

Not only was Ellie Mix '20 the recipient of the Frank Lee Berry Jr. Award, which is given for excellence in the study of the history of art, her list of accomplishments and roles while at Rice ran deep as she previously served as an O-week advisor at Martel College and worked at the Rice Thresher and Rice Review. Ellie's sense of wander and pursuit for adventure and knowledge led her to participate in the London HART in the World trip in 2019 and to study abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark for a semester.

Though she grew up going to museums begrudgingly, Ellie found a love for art during her time at Rice. With the gracious support of the Art History department, she has had the privilege to work at institutions like the MFAH, the Menil Collection, and DiverseWorks. This summer, she is spending her time at the Moody Center for the Arts updating the archives around Rice's Public Art collection. So far, she has thoroughly enjoyed learning more about where works by Jaume Plensa, Dorothy Hood, Jim Love, and Aurora Robson have been and where they are going.
