CROSSROADS: Uncovering the Histories of the Built Environment in the Americas and the Global South | Feb. 17-18, 2023

Crossroads

Fabiola López-Durán, associate professor of art and architectural history, and Giovanna Bassi Cendra, art history Ph.D. candidate, will both be presenting at the in-person symposium “CROSSROADS: Uncovering the Histories of the Built Environment in the Americas and the Global South” on Feb. 17-18, 2023.

Hosted by the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin, doctoral students and scholars will gather to present current research that “de-centers the individual architect and the individual building, embracing, instead, the crossroads of overlooked evidence.”

Dr. López-Durán will deliver the keynote presentation based on her body of research at 11:30am on Friday, Feb. 17th in the first session, “Borders/Boundaries/Landscape,” followed by Giovanna’s presentation from a chapter of her dissertation, “Building Extractive Development: Techno-Scientific Complex, University-City of Concepción, Chile, 1952–1968.”
