Andrew Wyld Research Support Grant from the Paul Mellon Centre, Yale University

Claire Spadafora

Ph.D. candidate, Claire Spadafora, was awarded this year's Andrew Wyld Research Support Grant from the Paul Mellon Centre at Yale University for her dissertation research on William Kent.

The Andrew Wyld Research Support Grant supports research that considers British works of art on paper from the 18th and 19th centuries. Andrew Wyld was a well-known and much respected London art dealer, specializing in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century British watercolors. As a young man his only training was to look at as many works of art as possible. The award is to allow students to see and research works on paper at first hand, and grants may be used towards traveling and subsistence expenses.
