The Department of Art History sponsored its annual trip to New York City from March 9 until March 14, 2019. Ten art history majors in their junior or senior years, led by Professors Gordon Hughes and Joseph Manca, toured the major museums and historical sites in Manhattan. The weather was perfect, and the group visited such places as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Frick Collection, and the Neue Galerie. A visit to lower Manhattan included visits to 18th century St. Paul's Chapel, 19th century Trinity Church, and Santiago Calatrava's recent Transportation Hub at the World Trade Center.
The Department of Art History will sponsor another trip to NYC in 2020, and priority will be given to declared majors. Look for more information during the Fall 2019 semester.
