Adrienne Rooney, PhD Alum, accepts position at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

Adrienne Rooney, HART PhD alum, has accepted a position at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, where she now serves as Assistant Professor of Visual and Material Culture in the Department of Arts & Culture, History and Antiquity. She joined the faculty after a postdoctoral fellowship at the Frederick Douglass Institute and Department of Black Studies at the University of Rochester.

Dr. Rooney received her Ph.D. from Rice’s Department of Art History in 2023 with her dissertation "A Worldbuilding Moment: Aesthetics and Economics in the Caribbean Festival of Arts’ (Carifesta) Revolutionary Era, 1966-1981" under her advisor Prof. Fabiola López-Durán.
