Ph.D. Alumna Natasha Mao extends her fellowship at Worcester Art Museum

Dr. Natasha Mao

Congratulations to Dr. Natasha Mao for her extended fellowship at the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts where she will continue to plan and develop a permanent gallery for the numerous objects from the Higgins Armory Collection.

Natasha Mao earned her Ph.D. in Italian Renaissance art history in 2019 under the mentorship of Prof. Diane Wolfthal. Upon graduation, Natasha was appointed Curatorial Interpretive Fellow at the Worcester Art Museum in Worcester, Massachusetts. This fellowship is specifically tied to the Higgins Armory Collection, which was a private arms and armor collection collected by John W. Higgins (the second largest after the MET's arms and armor collection). The collection was formally transferred to Worcester Art Museum in 2014 and her job is to help plan a permanent gallery for the 1500 objects from the collection.

In August 2020, Natasha received the good news that her position has been extended for an additional two years beyond the original 14-month contract. She is super excited about being part of this exciting project for the upcoming years.
