Art History Ph.D. candidate Yuri Yoshida's paper "Barnett Newman's Perception of Artistic Genealogy and Production as Seen in His Criticism of Ad Reinhardt's "Black" Paintings" was published in the December 2019 issue of the journal NACT Review: Bulletin of the National Art Center, Tokyo (No. 6, pg 51-69, Japanese). In the paper, Yoshida considers perceptions of artistic genealogy held by the Abstract Expressionist painter Barnett Newman and how they relate to his own work through examination of Newman's critical stance toward Ad Reinhardt's "Black" paintings.
