Aja Martin is a third-year PhD student who writes on modern art in Europe with a focus on Italy. Her current research on the artist Lucio Fontana's lesser-studied series attempts to understand how these works, in various media, impact our understanding of his seemingly nihilist claims for painting. Aja earned a Master's Degree in Art History (2011) at Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor's degree in Art History from the University of Houston (2008). Aja has held curatorial, director, and fellowships at major art institutions and organizations across Texas.
