Upcycling: Meaningful Reuse in Art and Monuments from Antiquity to Today (3 cr.)

In this seminar, we will explore the phenomenon of upcycling - intentionally meaningful reuse - by investigating the intersection of reuse and memory in the art and monuments of many different times, places, and people, from prehistory to the modern art that surrounds us on the Rice campus. Graduate students will be assigned up to 10 additional readings over the semester and complete a 15-20 page final paper.

Credit cannot be earned for HART 562 and HART 362.
