Filmmaker Margarita Cadenas will present a screening of her film Femmes du Chaos Vénézuélien followed by a discussion with Rice faculty members Lida Oukaderova (Art History), Fabiola López-Durán (Art History), and Luis Duno-Gottberg (Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American Studies).

"In Femmes du Chaos Vénézuélien, five women, from different backgrounds and generations, paint a picture of a country in perdition, an unprecedented crisis in Venezuela. Followed in their daily lives, they testify to the urgency of the chaotic situation in which the people are plunged, addressing each of them the difficulties of food shortages, drugs and raw materials, as well as the problem of political prisoners, injustice, and criminality. The approach is to start from a particular case to extrapolate and depict a global vision of the country."

This event is sponsored by the Katherine Brown Fund with additional contributions from Saludos Connection.
